Brits who wish to train as an English teacher could struggle to do so in the UK due to cuts by the department of education.
It was reported today (January 31st) that the £6,000 bursary that trainee teachers receive each year will be scrapped for those who wish to teach English, History, Geography and Art.
That is because the UK already has enough teachers in these subject areas so those who wish to teach English may choose to do so abroad as English teachers are in high demand in places such as Asia.
It has also been revealed that the number of teaching training places for secondary schools will be reduced by 2,000 in September, which is a 14 per cent drop.
Mary Bousted, general secretary of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers, told the Daily Telegraph: "This government is setting itself up for some serious problems two or three years down the line."
If someone wants to pursue a career in education they may want to consider taking a TEFL course, which trains people to teach English abroad.
A TEFL course can be taken by anyone who can speak English.
