Teach English in Australia and attend first ukulele festival

Posted 29 Jun 2010

Cairns Ukulele Festival takes place on July 3rd and 4th in Fogarty Park on the Esplanade.

Visitors can explore the Esplanade on July 3rd and listen to ukulele performances by various clubs and schools set against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean.

A world record attempt will also be made that evening. The organisers of the event want to set the world record for the largest ensemble of Ukulele players ever.

On July 4th, guests could take part in a workshop, which teaches people how to play the instrument and chill out in the bar while listening to performers in the evening.

One of the performers is Daniel Ho, a multi-Grammy award winner from Hawaii. Visitors can also hear the Old Spice Boys.

The Old Spice Boys perform covers of songs such as Prince’s Kiss with instruments such as a Ukulele, tea chest bass and snare drum.

A ukulele is a Hawaiian instrument and is part of the guitar family. It is a plucked lute with four strings.
