Budding English teachers may wish to take their skills abroad in order to avoid the increasingly busy jobs market in the UK.
Head of recruitment at the Training and Development Agency for Schools Luke Graham stated that getting into teaching at home is becoming "more and more competitive", making it a much harder career to get into than in the past.
He explained there has been a "huge" surge of interest in the profession recently, adding that for the first time ever last year all teacher recruitment targets were met.
"It is no longer just a safe job that is alright for a fall-back," Mr Graham commented. "It is a profession with increasing status."
Those struggling to find work teaching in the UK might have more joy teaching English as a foreign language abroad.
Astrid Citralokam, who was planning to join i-to-i’s teaching English in China internship, claimed recently that taking a TEFL course gives a person access to better opportunities.
