TEFL courses can provide travellers with the funds needed to explore the world, according to the Guardian.
Teaching English as a foreign language abroad can be a great way to earn money, as well as exploring the world.
That is according to the Guardian, which has reported that more graduates who expect to have a career in high-paying industries, such as finance and the media, are taking time out to teach abroad.
At a time when the UK jobs market is extremely constricted, it explained that TEFL qualifications could be a sound investment – allowing people to fund their way on extended sojourns across five continents.
One of the benefits of TEFL qualifications is that they are inclusive – there are no age restrictions, no degree is required and teachers only need to be able to speak English.
Jodie Taylor, who decided to teach English abroad after failing to land a job following her graduation from the University of Birmingham last year, told the newspaper that she hadn't previously considered teaching.
"But I knew it would be good to experience life in a new culture and to learn more about myself and what I want from my life," she added.
With as many as six students estimated to be fighting over every university position available through clearing this year, teaching English abroad could also provide a temporary stopgap until next year for those who decide to reapply.
