Around 85 per cent of Brits plan to take the same or more flights this year than they did in 2008, a new report has found.
Many airlines are reducing fares meaning that travel is more affordable, explained the online travel company that conducted the survey, Just the Flight.
With the pound currently weak against the euro, many holidaymakers are jetting off to far-flung locations to get better value for their money, it continued.
Popular destinations this year are expected to include Turkey, Croatia, Egypt, Australia and New Zealand.
Of those questioned, 40 per cent said that the strength of the sterling would affect where they went away.
A further 18 per cent said that their choice in destination for their jolly jaunts would be impacted by health and personal circumstances. Job insecurity also featured in the responses given.
The list of holiday hotspots cited by Just the Flight could also be popular choices as destinations to teach English abroad.
According to the Lonely Planet, visitors to Egypt can sign up for Arabic language courses in the country which could be useful for those living and working there.
