Masan, a city in South Korea, has the fastest internet speed in the world, suggests a new report by Akamai, released on July 27th.
The results in the State of the Internet 2010 survey were based on the first quarter of the year and on cities with at least 50,000 unique internet users.
People teaching English in Asia may therefore benefit from the fastest internet speeds in the world if they live in a city.
This is because 61 per cent of the places named in the top 100 fastest cities are in Japan.
People teaching English in Asia will also benefit from the largest maximum connection speed.
South Korea came top of the list again as internet users can reach connection speeds of 33mbp. Hong Kong and Japan took the next two highest spots in the list.
Average speed increased by 3.5 per cent in Japan but there was little or no improvement in Hong Kong.
In 2009, China had 384 million internet users, Japan had 96 million and South Korea only had 37.5 million.
