South America could be a good place for people with a TEFL certificate to teach English abroad, as it is popular and offers good value for money.

A spokeswoman for ABTA – the Travel Association stated that Mexico is popular with Brits and Brazil is an upcoming destination, which is investing in its infrastructure as it will be hosting the 2014 World Cup.

She said: "They are good value for money. Generally speaking, once people are in those countries, it is very, very good value for money.

"There have been more flights put on, so that will reduce the flight costs. The majority of the costs involved in a holiday to South America has been flights."

Therefore, people with a TEFL qualification may like to teach English in South America as it should not be too expensive.

STA Travel revealed on January 26th that there will be an increase in people combining their travels with good works in 2011.
