South Africa is set to be the centre of attention in the international community next year, as it plays host to the FIFA World Cup 2010 something that may provide inspiration to those considering teaching English abroad.
According to Sean Tipton, a representative from ABTA – The Travel Association, around 650,000 British people visit South Africa every year to holiday or visit friends and family.
"But, with the World Cup, it is going to go through the roof next year," the expert explained.
South Africa, along with New Zealand, is also a popular place for Brits to go as the winter sets in at home, Mr Tipton commented.
"This is when the southern hemisphere becomes very popular for long haul holidaymakers. Our December is their June," he added.
Earlier this week, the International Currency Exchange revealed that its orders for the South African rand are up by 441 per cent on last month.
