Gap year travellers who are teaching English in China have been advised to check out Xi’an for an experience of the old and new mixed together in a city.
Managing director of Gap Adventures John Warner described the destination as an example of China "at its best" and claimed that it is a great place to visit.
He noted that people must head down to the Terracotta Warriors exhibit while they are there, because it is "quite phenomenal".
"The Terracotta Warriors are becoming more and more well known now, although they still aren’t as highly visited as the Great Wall and the Forbidden City," remarked Mr Warner.
Such experiences are likely to make teaching English in China a real treat for those who take the plunge and jump on a plane over to Asia with their TEFL or TESOL qualification.
The number of visitors to the Asia Pacific region increased by three per cent in November 2009 compared to the same time in the previous year, according to Pacific Asia Travel Association.
