Author and journalist Simon Heffer is calling on schools to teach good grammar as poor language skills can hinder a young person.
He has been visiting schools in the UK and has spent the morning at King Edward VI Comprehensive School in Suffolk teaching grammar to its pupils, reports BBC News.
He told the news provider: "We are judged by how we speak and we are judged – when we put things on paper or online – by how we write."
In his new book, Mr Heffer states that people can miss out on good opportunities as they lack a full mastery of English grammar.
This could be important for those struggling with the grammar module in the TEFL course because this shows it is important.
If someone plans to teach English abroad, they should have a good grasp of grammar to ensure they provide their students with the skills they will need in the future.
Rachel Bowden, who has ten years experience in teaching English abroad, told a meeting of teachers in India that grammar was important.
