The recession is forcing people to re-assess their employment priorities, an expert maintains.
In news which may interest people considering a TEFL job, James Brian, product director for Monster.co.uk, suggests the economic downturn is making careers offering job security more appealing.
"People are starting to look at their skills and thinking of ways to align those skills that will recession proof their career going forwards," he says.
"Some people may feel that they are currently in a role that will not fare so well during the recession and feel as if they are waiting for the axe to fall, so people are taking decisive action to prevent that happening."
The teaching profession in Dubai has already seen an increase of interest from people looking for a safe career in the shrinking jobs market.
According to the National, training schools have been inundated with inquiries from career-changers looking to transfer their skills to the classroom.
Maria Pearson, who originally hails from New Zealand, told the news source that she was inspired to teach English after losing her job as a retail training and development manager in March.
