People teaching English abroad who enjoy horse racing may like to consider attending the Vodacom Durban, which takes place on July 31st at the Greyville Racecourse.
It can give those teaching English in South Africa the opportunity to dress up smartly and see how competitive the locals can get.
This event is the most popular social gathering for horse racing fans in South Africa and as much as 1.5 million rand is at stake.
The main event is the Blue Riband, which takes place over a 2.2km course and is very popular.
Other races include the Golden Province Stakes (1.6m), Gold Vase (3km), Golden Horseshoe (1.4m) and the Golden Slipper (1.4km). These tend to be run under the floodlights.
The most popular sports in South Africa are rugby and cricket but horse racing is still enjoyed by many.
Attending the horse races will enable those teaching English in the county to experience a popular event.
