Children in Taiwan are being taught English by being sent to stay in language villages, it has been reported.
There are three English communities created in the Taoyuan County, explained Taiwan News, where pupils are able to practice their language skills "as if they were really sightseeing and shopping overseas".
Altogether, the villages which are designed to teach children in fifth grade have taught over 60,000 students, the newspaper said. All three-day courses over the last year have been fully booked.
People from abroad are selected to teach English in Taiwan for this programme and the villages have participated in a number of exhibitions around the area.
The publication concluded that more weekend programmes and single-day study trips are being organised by the villages.
According to the Lonely Planet, visitors to Taiwan can experience the Asian island’s culture by taking part in a number of activities.
These could include learning Chinese, taking part in a calligraphy lesson or relaxing by taking up meditation or yoga.
