Three of the most popular countries for people teaching English abroad have been named in a list of the top ten long-haul holiday destinations for 2010.
Luxury travel operator Kuoni placed Thailand second in its rankings, with Malaysia in 6th position and China and Hong Kong appearing as a new entry in 8th.
Thailand was also put first in the company’s top five long-haul destinations for solo travellers list and third for family holidays – which might be something TEFL tutors need to consider if they have relations planning to visit them during their internships.
A spokesperson for Abta – The Travel Association, suggested that people are looking for different things from long-haul vacations these days than they did in the past.
"We want personal fulfilment," Frances Tuke commented. "We are not just looking to flock and drop on to the beaches – we want a lot more than that."
