Teaching English abroad always involves observing local customs and etiquette, which for people in TEFL jobs in India means covering themselves up more than they might be used to, it has emerged.
The Commonwealth Office recently released a statement advising Britons heading to Goa that they should be sure to dress modestly when they are out in public, respecting the traditions relating to dress in the area, reported Asian Lite.
Individuals currently teaching English in India may have already come across this issue, but for those that have not, it is worth noting particularly in the classroom.
"Political parties in the state too are mulling over a possible dress code for the half a million odd foreign tourists who visit Goa annually," explained the news service.
A student recently told teach abroad specialists i-to-i that travelling to a country to work in a TEFL job may offer them a deeper perception of a destination than a tourist might experience.
