Many schools in Korea do not require native English speakers to hold a TEFL certificate in order to teach English there, however, those who possess one will be paid more.
That is according to Sarah Fauset, writing on eslteacherrecruiter.com, who stated that many organisations will offer a higher wage to teachers who are more qualified.
While some may believe the initial outlay for a TEFL course is expensive, teaching English in Korea pays so well that one will make their money back swiftly.
In addition, the certificate will help teachers in what is a competitive country.
"Getting a job in Korea is quite competitive at the moment so if you have the TEFL certificate you will have a better chance of getting a job. Employers prefer to hire candidates with the TEFL certificate," Ms Fauset added.
Jackie Bolen, writing on her blog My Life! Teaching in a Korean University, recently said she loves teaching English there and is happy with her life.
