National Primary Headteachers (NPH) has claimed that it is keen to see more men get into teaching, which may encourage some male students to press on with a TEFL course.
Chris Davis, media correspondent for the organisation, made his comments after the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) reported a 52 per cent rise in the number of male applicants for teacher training.
The organisation indicated that there was a particularly significant increase in the quantity of applicants who wanted to teach English in the UK.
Mr Davis remarked: "Hopefully this might be the turning point and we might be getting back to a more normal representation of the genders in primary school teaching."
He highlighted how there is a need for a better balance in schools and training programmes, so these recent statistics could be viewed as positive news.
In his opinion, it could be that people who previously worked in sectors such as banking may be forced to consider changing careers and taking teacher training courses, such as TEFL qualifications.
