New learning English app launched

Posted 30 Dec 2010

Brits currently teaching English abroad could find that a new app developed for the iPhone and iPad is useful as a teaching resource.

The app, called Lets Find It, was released on the iTunes app store yesterday (December 28th).

It has been designed to help non-native English speakers learn new words and their pronunciation in a fun and interactive way.

TEFLers who are teaching English abroad may like to direct their students to this app as it may help them improve their speaking skills at home.

Users of the app interact with a cute cartoon character that needs to find objects.

At the start of each game, random objects are scattered around the game's playing field and the character asks the user to find certain items, which are named in English.

The British Council also launched an app for the iPad, which could be used as a teaching resource by TEFLers.

This app has also been created to aid pronunciation as the words are divided into sounds and read out loud.
