Posted 30 Dec 2008

There will be an increase in the number of people moving abroad to work and to "ride out a period of redundancy" in the UK, it has been suggested.

In order to cope with the current economic climate, Shelter Offshore explained, people may have to be more flexible and prepared to move to another country to find employment.

A number of global businesses may also want their staff to work for a period of time abroad, it added.

The website suggests people should be able to adapt their working practices so they are able to live outside the UK.

Workers should also ensure they are prepared before they move to a foreign place and check they have suitable health insurance and adequate finances.

Earlier this month, Laura Harrison wrote in an article for the Guardian, that many people facing redundancy in this country were choosing to teach English abroad.

She described TEFL jobs as a "ticket to ride" as it could allow people to travel around the world while working in a paid job.ADNFCR-2167-ID-18950780-ADNFCR
