People looking for jobs abroad may be interested to learn that several employers in the UK are considering moving more of their positions overseas.
A study by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and KPMG indicates that jobs in a number of sectors, including IT and finance, are being moved overseas as firms look at ways to cut costs.
For those who have spent time teaching abroad and picked up local language skills, the news could present a golden opportunity for career progression.
The UK government is currently considering introducing a migration cap in the UK, which the CIPD believes would encourage businesses to move more positions to overseas countries and limit UK economic growth at a time when finances at many firms are already strained.
But while this would be bad news for those based in the UK, the same would not necessarily be true for people moving abroad – who may find that greater demand for people to fill skilled positions awaits them.
The UK visa cap is due to come into effect from April next year.
