Imperial College has announced that it will be opening a medical school in Singapore, which will admit its first 500 students in 2013.
The Guardian reported on September 1st that the London University is trying to establish a presence in Asia and will train 750 medical students when the school is fully operational.
Most of these students will be local so people teaching English in Singapore may find that they are providing future doctors with the language skills they will need in their careers.
Alternatively, they may be teaching English to youngsters who will one day aspire to attend the medical school, as Imperial has created an innovative course containing electronic learning and simulations of patient care.
Sir Keith O'Nions, rector of Imperial College, told the news provider: "We are extremely proud to be working with Singapore, a country we have long admired for its support and application of world-class science, engineering and medicine."
Teachers or students in Singapore can find plenty to do in their free time including shopping in themed designer boutiques or larger department stores.
There are also plenty of English or Chinese language theatres on the island, which has a vibrant nightlife.
