Luggage warning for travellers

Posted 31 Jul 2009

TEFL teachers heading abroad this summer may be interested in new advice from a travel expert on how best to protect against luggage losses.

Sharron Livingston, editor of thetravelmagazine.net, maintains it is important to make sure rucksacks and suitcases are covered by a comprehensive travel insurance policy before jetting off.

Retaining receipts as proof of purchase in case of loss or damage is also advised.

Ms Livingston continues: "Read the small print of your travel insurance and be sure to note exactly what the excess is and what the limits of the claims are.

"It might also be an idea not to pack valuable items or those of great sentimental value in check-in luggage at all, but keep them close to hand."

According to recent statistics from the European Commission, the incidence of lost luggage reported at airports effectively amounts to one piece for every 64 passengers.ADNFCR-2167-ID-19290708-ADNFCR
