Students from a US university have spoken about how spending some time abroad and immersing themselves in another culture helped to enhance their outlook on life – opinions that may be of interest to those considering taking TEFL courses.
OhmyNews reports that hundreds of students from the University of Wisconsin jetted off abroad to five different continents last spring and told the news provider about their experiences.
Bridget Roby said that her time studying in Kenya gave her first-hand experience of another way of living.
"It was honestly an amazing experience," she told the website.
Another youngster to have taken advantage of the chance to spend time abroad is Mike Clair, who stayed in Cape Town, South Africa.
"I couldn’t have imagined having a better time and a cooler experience. I’m a different person today because of it," stated Mr Clair.
Earlier this year, data compiled by Expedia showed that many visitors to Kenya have been inspired to visit by films set in the country – such as Academy Award-winning 1985 picture Out of Africa.
