Youngsters who are concerned about their future prospects as unemployment rates increase and 70 graduates fight for each vacancy could choose to teach English abroad.
That is because learning a foreign language can help improve a person's job prospects, whether it is learnt formally or not.
A report in the Independent on September 30th suggested that knowing a foreign language can help people stand out from the crowd and aid them in their future careers.
Those who take a TEFL course and move to teach English abroad can pick up a foreign language while they are working in a different country.
Natalie Whalley learnt Spanish on her gap year to Peru and she now works for an international charity that helps poor children across the globe.
She told the news provider: "My passion for development came through learning the language. We have a country office in Peru that only employs local staff, so without my Spanish I wouldn't be able to speak to them."
