Koreans ‘could speak English like New Yorkers’

Posted 18 Nov 2009

Students of English in Korea are being offered the opportunity to learn how to speak the language like New Yorkers – news that may interest those teaching English overseas.

TransWorldNews reports that web firm Hudson Horizons has devised a new resource for the language education provider eSprout which aims to inform those in Korea about life in the Big Apple.

It is designed to give those Koreans an understanding of what it is like to be a New Yorker, thereby making their English classes more interesting, the news provider informs.

The chief executive officer of eSprout David Lebowitz stated: "Our goal was to deliver live online English language classes via advanced web conferencing technologies and thanks to Hudson Horizons, we’ve achieved that goal.”

This news comes after the Korea Times claimed last week that North Koreans’ favourite foreign language is English.

It added that the government, as a consequence of this growing interest in the tongue, is setting up extra learning facilities in libraries.
