January could see a boom in people wanting to change their jobs as this tends to happen every year post-Christmas.
That is according to Zain Wadee, director of hyphen, a recruitment firm.
He said: "The start of the calendar year does tend to be a popular time for people to look for new career opportunities.
"The festive period often represents a watershed with people wanting to make a fresh start on a number of levels."
End-of-year bonuses will also have been paid, which can be a deterrent to finding a new job, Mr Wadee added.
People looking for a career change in the New Year may like to take a TEFL course as this enables them to teach English abroad.
This means they can earn money teaching English abroad, while exploring a new culture and gaining important skills.
Standing out from the crowd in terms of skills could be integral over the next few years as Badenoch and Clark revealed on December 21st that the outlook for the public sector looks uncertain.
