A travel insurance firm, EssentialTravel, has experienced an increase in the number of youngsters enquiring about their services following the release of A-level results.
On August 19th, record A-level results were posted but many universities were over-subscribed this year, which means that some young people missed out on a place.
As a result, it seems that an increasing number of youngsters are choosing to take a year out, possibly to teach English abroad, before going to university next year.
The travel insurance firm has urged those looking to move abroad for a year to take out the correct cover for the job they intend to do whether it be fruit picking, au pairing or teaching.
Stuart Bensusan from the company stated that most policies would cover those planning to teach English abroad but not jobs where machinery was involved.
He said: "Missing out on university this time round could actually provide young people with a golden opportunity."
