India developing new hotels to help attract visitors

Posted 29 Oct 2010

India is currently building hotels and the new classification of them should help visitors find the establishments with the features they want.

This could also help those who have just completed a TEFL course and are planning to teach English in India as they may need to stay in a hotel while they find accommodation.

According to the STR Global Construction Pipeline Report September 2010, which was published on October 21st, there are currently 47,315 hotel rooms being created in India.

Therefore, there will possibly more choice for those who are teaching English abroad when they arrive in India in terms of hotel and price.

Raj Kumar Sunani, assistant director at India Tourism London, stated that the country is experiencing an increase in the number of visitors travelling to the area.

He said: "The best time to visit India is from October to March … The most popular places are Delhi, Agra, Rajasthan, Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka et cetera."

The classification of hotels will group the establishments into stars based on their amenities, which should give visitors more confidence, Mr Sunani added.
