One blogger has offered some tips on how people teaching English abroad can put together good lesson plans even if the school they are working in decide not to offer too much support.
Writing in the i-to-i Chalkboard, Emmafoers explained that there are plenty of good sources of information to help people in TEFL jobs create lesson plans, but it can be particularly useful to find out everyone’s expectations for the classes.
She suggested speaking to the students themselves to see what they would like to learn about, as well as asking other faculty staff if there are particular exams that they are being prepared for.
With regards to lesson material, the blogger said: "Use the internet there are vast amounts of lesson plans, tips and resources at your very fingertips, just waiting to be discovered make good use of the marvel of todays technology."
It can be useful for people to do a fair amount of research before accepting a job in a foreign country, since it will make the whole experience more enjoyable if people can be more certain that their expectations will be met, according to Chalkboard editor Honor Baldry.
