The number of passengers visiting Hong Kong in July increased by 17.5 per cent compared to a year ago, suggesting it is growing in popularity.
People who are moving to teach English in China may have passed through the airport on their journey or they may wish to visit the region.
Passenger traffic to and from the mainland of China and south west Asia were particularly popular last month and overall visitor numbers increased by 29 per cent.
Stanley Hui Hon-Chung, chief executive of the Airport Authority Hong Kong, said: "The market rebound during the summer holiday travel season has been particularly strong. July saw a high average load factor of close to 80 per cent for passenger flights at Hong Kong International Airport."
The Hong Kong Tourism board is currently hosting Festive Hong Kong 2010, which means that all year-long special festivals and events will be held. This could be the reason for the growth in popularity.
People teaching English in Hong Kong could attend the Hong Kong Computers and Communications Festival, which takes place from August 20th to 23rd.
This event showcases the latest technologies and trends to the public and professionals.
