An increasing number of travel agents are choosing to work from home because the high street has become "less viable", it has been suggested.
This may impact on how holidaymakers and TEFL teachers book their trips abroad.
Steve Byrne, managing director of Travel Counsellors, explained life in shopping precincts and town centres is becoming all the time more difficult.
This has caused a growth in the number of agency owners enquiring about working away from the high street, he continued.
Mr Byrne added many who have taken up this opportunity did not like the paperwork that had previously bogged them down.
Working from home will allow people in the business to "focus on their customer" and have "greater flexibility", he concluded.
Travel Counsellor is a company with over 1,000 full-time professional agents across eight countries who largely work from their own property.
According to a news story published on Travel Mole, a number of agents are choosing to run their business from their house because it allows them to save costs from having little or no overheads and not paying rising rents for shop premises.
