Get travel insurance before teaching English in Thailand

Posted 16 Jul 2010

A new report by the Foreign Office released this week found that Britons in Thailand needed the most assistance when abroad.

The report entitled British Behaviour Abroad found that 957 people required help in Thailand between April last year and March 2010.

Therefore before travelling to Thailand to teach English it is wise to take out adequate travel insurance as medical costs and other expenses could be more expensive than people think.

Those teaching English in Thailand do not want to get caught out by having no insurance as they could accrue large bills while abroad.

Jeremy Browne, Foreign and Commonwealth office manager, said: “The worrying fact is that so many of these situations are preventable.

”Helping out Britons in trouble abroad is part of our job, but we can’t get you out of jail or pay your hospital bills."

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, was recently voted the ‘best city in the world’ by Travel and Leisure Magazine readers.
