Those considering teaching English in India could be helping students of the language to gain confidence in the subject, it has been suggested.
Sandhya Chintala, director of education for the National Association of Software and Services Companies, told the Times of India that not enough candidates applying for work with major firms are confident enough in English conversation.
She told the news provider: "While there exists a burgeoning chunk of people who have studied in the English medium […] there are few who are conversationally at ease with the language."
Ms Chintala concluded that a blanket policy could be adopted and shared among firms to gauge the abilities of those applying for jobs with them.
Last week, the British Council stated that India is significantly falling behind when it comes to English skills, reported the Financial Business News and Multimedia.
