Experience ancient culture at Xi’an

Posted 20 Aug 2010

People who plan to teach English in China this year could experience a slice of ancient culture first-hand.

The Festival of Ancient Culture is being held at Xi'an, from September 10th until 17th and troupes from across the world will be performing.

Set among the ancient setting of the terracotta army, visitors will be able to experience culture dating back thousands of years, suggests whatsonwhen.com.

People teaching English in China will be able to watch drumming, dancing, live music and even hear the ten different types of opera that exist in Xi'an.

Spectators can also see the whole region light up in the evenings as a fascinating lantern show is put on along the ancient walls of the city that date back to the Ming dynasty.

Xi'an is one of the oldest cities in China and is one of the four great ancient capitals of the country.

The city has more than 3,100 years of history and is therefore an ideal place in which to experience ancient culture.
