Aspiring TEFL teachers may be buoyed by news British royal Princess Eugenie is giving up her lavish lifestyle to work for a charity in Kenya as part of her gap year before university.
The 19-year-old is jetting off to the east African country to undertake work experience with ACE Africa, which helps orphans and vulnerable children affected by AIDS in remote rural regions.
Her mother, the Duchess of York, is also a keen supporter of the charity and recently attended its fifth anniversary party in London.
Eugenie’s trip follows a string of overseas excursions since she completed her A levels last year.
She backpacked around Thailand and Cambodia earlier this year to unwind before taking up a place at Williams College in Massachusetts in the autumn.
Those tempted to follow in Eugenie’s royal footsteps may be interested in i-to-i’s TEFL programme in Mombassa, which lasts between four and 12 weeks.
