Posted 27 Jan 2010

Internet learning, such as TEFL online programmes, has enjoyed a significant popularity surge in the US within the last year, it has been discovered.

The 2009 Sloan International Survey of Online Learning indicated that the number of people enrolling on these education courses has surged by 17 per cent within the last 12 months.

According to the data, which incorporates over 2,500 colleges and universities across the country, around 4.6 million students were enrolled in at least one online course during the autumn of 2008.

Co-author of the study Jeff Seaman, who is also the co-director of the Babson Survey Research Group at Babson College, said: "Online enrolments […] show no signs of slowing. More than one out of four college and university students now take at least one course online."

This news comes after Dr Alan Walker, president of Upper Iowa University in the US, stated that distance learning, such as a TEFL online course, is a great way for people to make their CVs more attractive.ADNFCR-2167-ID-19582303-ADNFCR
