English teaching tool wins award at conference

A web-based platform that can help English teachers with their classes has won an innovation award.

English360 won the David Riley Award for Innovation at the annual Business English conference of IATEFL in Germany on November 29th.

The resource allows teachers and schools to deliver online and blend learning programmes by downloading some of the pre-loaded Cambridge English Language Teaching titles.

In this way, those teaching English abroad have access to books that will help them with their lessons and language skills.

The Awarding Committee said: "We felt that the whole concept of English360 was something completely different, something that hadn't been done before.

"As well as being innovative, it is also user-friendly. A particular benefit for the teacher is the fact that so many books are accessible."

Another tool that those teaching English abroad may like to employ is a free app for the iPad, which has been developed by the British Council.

The app groups words into sounds such as vowels, which are then read aloud to help those learning English with their pronunciation.
