‘Discover real culture’ when teaching abroad in India

Posted 08 Mar 2010

Anyone teaching English in India will no doubt want to make the most of their downtime when they are not at work and one travel company has suggested heading to the island of Kumbalangi for an authentic taste of the country’s culture.

The isle can be found within a plethora of lakes and canals in the Keralan Backwaters in Southern India and is described as "perfect for utter relaxation" by i-Escape.

So if teaching English overseas is getting a little stressful, perhaps a trip down to this gorgeous destination should be on the cards to help people recharge their batteries ahead of a new term.

"There’s something special about an island holiday, the feeling that you’re that little bit further away from it all, the pace of life slows down as you step ashore," commented the company.

Another area that travellers could think about visiting is Chandigarh, which has a great selection of restaurants, according to the senior author of Lonely Planet India Sarina Singh.ADNFCR-2167-ID-19656981-ADNFCR
