Those who see the majority of their working life being spent in a classroom teaching English abroad need to complete a comprehensive TEFL course, it has been claimed.
According to an entry on the i-to-i Chalkboard, many prospective EFL teachers are unsure which course is the most suitable for them.
The key depends on what people want from their experience of teaching English abroad.
Those who want to forge a career out of it need to complete a course which covers every detail.
"For a long-term career as a TEFL teacher you’ll need to take a really comprehensive course
you’ll need to gain relevant teaching experience and build up your teaching resume as you go along," the post states.
Those who plan to teach English abroad on a casual basis while travelling may find a 60-hour online or 20-hour classroom TEFL course is their best option.
Sarah Fauset, writing on eslteacherrecruiter.com, recently stated that those with TEFL qualifications will find it easier to work in Korea and are likely to be paid more than people who do not possess a certificate.
