China is starting to be seen as more friendly to the traveller

Posted 29 Nov 2010

More travellers are starting to visit China as it is starting to be seen as more open and friendly, suggests an expert.

Paul Bondsfield, head of marketing at Round the World Experts, stated that China is a large country with plenty to offer as it has one of the longest histories of any civilization.

He said: "China is an enormous country with huge appeal, especially amongst younger travellers who want to see the world's newest super-power for themselves and older travellers who have known China mostly as a closed and secretive society."

Those who wish to teach English in China may like to do so in one of the big cities, such as Beijing or Shanghai, as they are becoming more popular.

According to data for the Asia/Pacific hotel performance in October, released by STR Global on November 25th, Shanghai experienced the biggest hike in visitor numbers.

Hotels in the region saw a 30 per cent increase in occupancy to 74 per cent in October compared to the previous month.
