One newspaper is giving those teaching English abroad the chance to vote on the places in their new homes that best evoke memories of the UK.
The Daily Telegraph is inviting expats to nominate their favourite haunts as part of its Best of British Awards, which will be announced next year.
It is seeking to recognise those venues around the world that go the extra mile to make Brits feel at home in foreign climes and anyone who makes a nomination will also be entered into a prize draw to win two tickets to the awards ceremony next April.
Overall, there are six categories, including best British shop, best British restaurant, best British social club and best British pub or bar.
Voting closes on January 15th 2009 and after this date, the judges will select the top six establishments for each country.
News of this competition comes after Anton De Wit, reservations manager at Rhino Africa, claimed that South Africa is a place where Brits feel at home.
