Britons taking more interest in travel insurance

Posted 29 Jul 2010

New research released on July 27th by gocompare.com has found that more Britons are taking an interest in their travel insurance before going abroad – possibly to teach English.

Due to the travel chaos caused by the volcanic ash clouds in April, that saw airports across the world being closed, and the British Airways strike, one in five consumers are now checking their insurance.

People are now checking to ensure what is and what is not covered by their policies and 90 per cent intend to take travel insurance out before going overseas.

Mark Greening, head of partnership products at the price comparison site, said: “Our research has shown that the publicity generated by the widespread disruption has caused many thousands of British holidaymakers to take far more interest in what their policy covers, rather than simply looking at the cost.”

A further seven per cent are willing to spend extra money on travel insurance than previous years and 60 per cent are shopping around for the best deals.

The Foreign Office recently urged British travellers, including those moving to <a href= “http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-jobs-abroad/”>teach English abroad, to obtain adequate insurance as most of the problems experienced overseas could be avoided.ADNFCR-2167-ID-800008400-ADNFCR
