Those who manage to learn a new language after taking their TEFL course and teaching English overseas could find that their CV looks more attractive as a result, it has been claimed
According to Shiry Liram, an event manager for the UK’s Language Show, the benefits of mastering another tongue after taking a TEFL course are great.
Although those teaching English abroad do not necessarily have to learn the local lingo, doing so could "enhance their skills", especially amid the recession, Ms Liram added.
"So, for sure there is a connection between people wanting to learn a language or having to learn a language. That works incredibly well," she explained.
A poll conducted by travelsupermarket.com in November found that 59 per cent of Brits refuse to embrace local languages when on holiday.
Overall, 12 per cent of respondents said that there is no point making an effort to speak the local tongue as English has become universal.
