Travellers, including those moving abroad to teach English, may fly on a lightweight plane in the future.
Airbus unveiled images of a fantasy-like aircraft, which could be the type of plane available in 2050 or even 2030 if technology continues to develop.
The plane-making firm is showcasing the images at the Farnborough International Airshow, which takes place from July 19th until 25th.
Images depict a lightweight plane with ultra long, slim bent-back wings and a U-shaped tail.
Charles Champion, engineering executive vice president at Airbus, said: “Here we are stretching our imagination and thinking beyond our usual boundaries.
”We want to stimulate young people from all over the world to engage with us so that we can continue to share the benefits of air transport while also looking after the environment."
A recent poll by the company found that the majority of under-35s planned to fly more in the future. As many as ten per cent thought that they will be flying twice as much in 2050 as they do now.
