A more relaxed lifestyle ‘could await TEFL teachers’

Those teaching English overseas could find that a more relaxed lifestyle awaits them than that they experienced in their home country.

This is according to writer Sherry Tatar, who stated in Sun-Times Media publication BeaconNewsOnline.com that this was the case for a group of youngsters sampled life in Costa Rica recently.

Ms Tatar described how her daughter travelled to the country for one term to explore the culture and how people live.

The youngster lived with host families, took Spanish classes, visited San Jose and enjoyed the beaches of Quepos, she explained.

Additionally, a lot of learning was conducted in a classroom "on a mountain, with stunning views of the ocean and jungle below".

In order to better enjoy their surroundings, "most of them also learned to survive without cell phones and Internet access," the writer explained. "They found that they actually enjoyed the more relaxed lifestyle".

Meanwhile, figures from the International Labour Organisation this week showed that 12 million 27 million jobs that were axed last year were located in North America, Japan and Western Europe.ADNFCR-2167-ID-19588033-ADNFCR
