A great teacher is like “a bolt of electricity” in the room

In an opinion those who are considering taking TEFL or TESOL courses may agree with, the UK education secretary has described a great teacher as one who sends "a bolt of electricity" running through the room.

Ed Balls made the statement as he was discussing education tactics with the Guardian newspaper and said that he knows by intuition when he is in the presence of a good instructor.

"You can see the pupils are listening and excited. The teacher is commanding the room, conveying their passion for their subject. They are stretching those who need more of a challenge," he told the news provider.

The education secretary went to say that he harbours a "tremendous respect" for those who really put the effort in and are at the top of their profession.

Meanwhile, those who decide to move abroad to teach English overseas may find themselves treated like "rock star", according to Daily Star journalist Nury Vittachi.
