Around 900 staff members face losing their jobs at the Citizen's Advice Bureau (CAB) in Birmingham, it was revealed today (January 28th).
That is because the CAB's five offices in the city will close on February 11th due to a £600,000 funding cut from the council.
This means that people who use the service to seek free debt advice will no longer be able to unless the charity raises £50,000 a month to keep its doors open.
Yvonne Davis, chief executive of the firm, told the Birmingham Mail: "We have been left with no alternative that doors will have to close unless we can find additional funding. We cannot stay open for four months waiting for this money."
People who end up losing their jobs may like to take a TEFL course as a way back into employment.
A TEFL course qualifies people to teach English abroad, for which there is a high demand across the globe.
Liverpool City Council announced 1,500 job cuts earlier this week and these employees may like to take a TEFL course too.
