BUENOS AIRES!!! HELP PLEASE :)

So my plans have now changed. I saw a documentary on Argentina and fell in love. It looks so amazing and i feel really excited! There is so much information on the internet and it confuses me to hell!

Here are a few questions i am looking for answers!

What is the typical salary for a TELF teacher (native speaker) in argentina without a degree?

What is the general monthly cost of basics, e.g rent, food, transport.?

How long do contracts go for at institutes or schools?

Is living in a hostel worth while?

Are visas easy to obtain?

THANK YOU SO MUCH as i am so excited :)

Nick

Hi, I notice it's a while since you wrote this post but I was wondering how you got on?

I'm currently looking into working in Buenos Aires and am asking similar questions to the ones you have on here. Any help you could give me??

Hi Nick! Wish I could help as I am very new to this myself, but one of my very good friends lives in Buenos Aires (not a TEFL teacher, she's a native Argentinian) and so I've added Argentina to my list of places to TEFL. Hopefully rooming with her could help save me some $$$ lol.

Best of luck to you in your information search!

Hey,

That's great you've decided to teach in Buenos Aires. The average wage in Argentina is between 2,000 to 3,000 pesos a month, which is about US$500 to US$760 a month. The cost of living there can be quite low, however the cost of appartments in Buenos Aires can be a little pricey. The contracts in language schools are usually from six months to a year.

You may want to have a chat to this member who is currently teaching in Argentina at the minute - she'll be able to loads of help and advice about living and teaching out there:
