Narcassa’s Blog

Well hello there!

I thought I'd throw together a quick blog entry even though I won't be in China for another 2 months.

Last week I got the first of my vaccinations so if anyone plans to give me Hep A then I'll have the last laugh!!! Mwhaha! In a few weeks I'll get the one for Japanese... something or other... That should be me covered, right?

I'm just waiting on my letter of invitation so I can get my visa and then organise flights. Does anyone know if we just show up at the embassy with the letter and vuala there's your visa. Do I need to bring anything else with me apart from my passport and passport photos???

As for booking flights I haven’t decided if I will book a return one or not… travel and spend money that I mightn’t have in January or be a bore and come back to sunny (cough cough) Ireland in January and look for another rubbish job. Hmmmm……

My birthday is in December so I’ll be celebrating it Chinese style (whatever that might entail). Hopefully homesickness won’t set in then, I’m sure all you other wonderful interns will celebrate it with me :-)

Hi Narcassa

I'm just starting to have my vaccinations too. As a registered nurse I was luckily up-to-date with most but am having ones for typhoid, japanese encephalitis and rabies. I checked with the CDC and IAMAT of which I'm a member and these were highly recommended.

Check the embassy website as I am told there are forms etc that need to accompany the letter and your passport. Like you I'm still waiting for my letter before I begin the process.....

I also have a birthday in December so will be celebrating Chinese sytle as well..!!!! I'm not with i-to-i but have been in contact with so many that I figure it doesn't matter who we are employed by we can still support each other, keep in touch and catch up when we are close by.

Cheers, Kate.

He's going to try.. it's honestly VERY experience to travel between the two considering they are less than 1000miles apart.  It's like 400 USD for the cheapest flight.  Trying to see if I can find a bus. Will mean I have to leave a day or two earlier, but I'll get to see some amazing country (from a bus for now) and save me some serious cash...hopefully.  If not, I'm shelling out 400USD. :( That's for both round trip and one-way.

Those will def be birthdays we both remember! Serbia and the Ukraine aren't too far away you should convince your boyfriend to visit, that could be your b'day present from him! :-)

Ooo glad I'm not the only one that will be celebrating my birthday in a foreign country.  I will be in Ukraine at the end of August and my birthday is Sept. 10.  Was hoping to spend my bday here in Serbia with my boyfriend, but nope.  Won't happen this year.

As for visa info.. check out the country's embassy page.  There are always lists of requirements for the visa.  :)
