Hi,
Thinking of teaching English in Korea and looking for any advice and any other people who are thinking of heading out there in the next 6 months ?
Lorraine
how did you get over to S. Korea--what process did you go through in getting there and choosing that location?
How well does your company adhere to the contract and how do the locals treat you?
thanks Lintse. yeah my friend said he'd go for Busan if he is still in Korea next year. Likewise, he wasn't too struck on Seoul. The job search goes on. Thank you so much for your assistance, its been really helpful. x
Busan is wonderful! The only downside I can see compared to where I am is that there are so many more ways to spend money/get in trouble. I live out in "the sticks"...or in the rice basket of South Korea which still looks pretty damned urban with all of the neon and ugly high rise apartments. Seoul is ridiculous and known for being one of the ugliest cities in the world. Hideously ugly, if you ask me, but I only spent a weekend there. Busan is less expensive than Seoul more expensive than other cities, but you'll have more instant gratification if you want access to an array of western style amenities. I've heard the apartments they give you tend to be smaller. You might get a better deal if you take something in a smaller community. This place has been easy to get around...good training wheels for Korea. I won't lie, I was more interested in Busan but a sloppy job search and faith in a face to face interview in my US city led me here.

Hey, nice to meet you. It's a bit scary at the moment as I have to try and get my documents ready for the visa even though I won't have any interviews till October/November haha. Where about in Korea do you want to go and when? I am unsure, but I want to live in a big city as it would be easier to settle down as there would be western resturants for when your homesick haha :) Hopefully I'll be flying out January!
